Tech firms dominate a new list of the best places to work in the UK.
Company review website Glassdoor announced the UK ‘Best Places to Work 2020’, putting tech giant Google in the top spot, followed by Manchester-based software firm Equal Experts, and CRM software firm Salesforce.
This is Google’s third time in the UK top spot, having reached number on in 2015 and 2018. It climbed 12 places form last year’s list to reach number one.
Conversely in the US version of Glassdoor’s list, Google fell out of the top 10, landing at 11th place.
New entry Equal Experts has teams in Manchester, Leeds and Newcastle, and boasts clients including HMRC and The Co-Op.
Those qualifying for the top spots were rated on a 5-point scale based on the anonymous reviews of current and former employees.
Glassdoor’s Economic Research team determined the overall winners and ratings based on work-life balance, culture, career opportunities, and benefits.
Christian Sutherland-Wong, president and incoming CEO at Glassdoor, said: “This year marks the shift to a culture-first decade in the workplace.
“This year’s winners stand out for providing exceptional career growth opportunities and encouraging work driven by impact and purpose.”
Other tech companies topping the charts include Softcat, Microsoft, Cisco Systems, Siemens and Apple.
