Video production company dock10 has agreed to acquire fellow the Manchester-based arm of post-production company 422.

422’s sister company based in Glasgow will stay under independent ownership.

dock10, based at MediaCityUK in Salford Quays, also recently bought post-production house Edit19.

“The 422 team has a fantastic reputation for creating and delivering a formidable range of high-end post-production services… this acquisition will make dock10 the clear leader outside London in both the TV and creative services markets,” said Mark Senior, CEO of dock10.

Over 20 years in the business, 422 has built a customer base including advertising agencies and TV production businesses. Its specialisms include creative audio and animation.

Gemma Ackerley, client services director for 422, said: “This is an incredibly exciting time for everybody involved and there are huge opportunities for all of us.

“We are joining forces with an incredibly forward-thinking company and are looking forward to bringing our talents and expertise to an already first-class team.”

422’s most recent and notable projects include campaigns for Aldi and John West, as well as working on a documentary with Finestripe Productions for US channel Smithsonian TV.

The 422 team will leave Peter Street, Manchester to move to dock10’s state of the art facilities in MediaCityUK in mid-2017.

An innovative pay-per-minute café and co-working space is to open in MediaCityUK.

Meanwhile a call centre staffed entirely by trained actors has opened its first northern headquarters there.
