William Fletcher is managing director of Recycling Lives - a social business supporting life-changing charity programmes through its successful recycling and waste management operations.

He joined Recycling Lives in 2013 bringing with him a wealth of experience from years working in the financial management and retail sectors, but keen to use his skills to create social impact.

The following year he became managing director.William was keen to lead Recycling Lives in expanding its unique model combining commercial activity with delivering significant social value to communities in which they operate.

He has overseen the installation of industry-leading waste management technology and expanded the organisation’s national footprint, opening new sites in the Midlands and Greater Manchester.

This expansion has also seen the launch and successful running of eight more HMP Academies and the introduction of the Lancashire and Cumbria Food Redistribution Centre as part of the charity model.

The business has more than doubled in size from £22m sales in 2013 to forecast £50m in 2017.

William is keen to support other organisations in growing their positive impact on communities and also heads up Recycling Lives’ involvement in the Northern Powerhouse Partnership and membership of the Business In The Community.

Recycling Lives is a double-Queen’s Award-winning organisation, recognised in 2010 and again in 2014 for its commitment to enterprise and sustainable development.

Its charity ventures are highly successful: in particular, significantly reducing reoffending through its rehabilitation programmes for offenders; and distributing 1,000,000 meals via its Food Redistribution Centre.

In the 2015/16 Audited Accounting Year, Recycling Lives delivered £4.1m of social impact through these charity programmes.
