The Barcelona and London-based tech start-up behind virtual keyboard Fleksy has exceeded its crowdfunding target on Crowdcube.

Fleksy has attracted more than £235,000 from over 160 investors with almost three weeks remaining until the end of its campaign.

Described as the world's "most fun, efficient and private content access keyboard", Fleksy gives users instant access to content in any app without having to leave their existing conversation.

Founded in 2011, the keyboard boasts 11 million downloads, 750,000 active users and is available in 45 languages. It has also been licensed to governments around the world and won awards including the Guinness World Record for the fastest keyboard.

"We're thrilled about having reached the first milestone of 230K, and looking forward to more investors coming in the next 19 days while the campaign is live," CEO Olivier Plante told BusinessCloud.

"We chose the crowdfunding route to be able to have investors and users participate in the future successes of Fleksy."

Plante said the funds will be used for product engineering and design, business partnerships, marketing and operations.

Fleksy is backed by investors including Seedcamp, Pioneers Ventures, SAATCHiNVEST and Simile Ventures.
